My Rotork Cyclon.
« on: March 06, 2017, 04:40:24 PM »
I thought I would share my ownership of my Rotork Cyclon.

I obtained the machine last year through ebay. It came with 2 tools, the tool-to-hose adaptor and a full set of paperwork.

I am very pleased to have been able to get hold of this machine and it makes me smile every time I see it.

On closer inspection I found some small areas of damage.

Sadly none of these were mentioned in the ebay listing and had I have known I may have been a little more restrained in my spending.
None the less Still a cracking machine to own.

I very bravely set about taking the machine apart for a thorough DEEP clean.

Inside the motor housing with thick with muck. But after a good soak and gentle scrub everything came up clean.

Its clear to see that some parts are sun bleached, particularly at the front of the machine.

The rear flap is causing an issue since I put the machine back together. The wand is too low and causes the flap to drag on the floor so I need to modify the bottom of the wand to compensate.

The final stage was to complete the wand which is missing the cord hook, these were problematic on all Cyclons.

Stuart from Mvacs was immensely helpful with this issue as I believe he already carried out this repair to his own Cyclon. He sourced some metal Hoover cord hooks, colour matched some paint to cover the hooks, then riveted the cord hook to the wand handle. It gives a result which you would be hard pushed to tell is NOT original. I could never have completed this without his help.

I was lucky enough to visit the Mvacs shop its such an amazing place, with rare machines on display at every turn.

I fixed the image display code and orientation in your photos.  :tiphat:

I am guessing you have tried it now?

What serial number is yours?

Thank you for finishing the Photos. This is my first Thread which is a bit Sparse so I hope to do better next time.

The serial number is 492, which is at the upper end of 550 quoted units.

I have tried the Cyclon very briefly. The belt is Perished and only just turns the roller on carpet. I haven't opted for a new belt to prevent damage from the tension on the cleaner head. Already one of the pivots is a little cracked and loose.

I noticed that the Chevrons on the brushbar are actually the wrong way round, facing the opposite way to the turning of the brushbar.

They are. Some are screen shots from a smartphone by the look of it with white space above and below.

Smashing, Id be more than happy to own one in worse condition TBH, Cyclon - fully together with little damage or kinda together with a quite a bit of damage I wouldn't mind, I'd just build up what I can and use it for display! Great to own one by the sounds! Wonder If I could get hold of a Cyclon in the future, as I have said Damaged or not at the end of the day its a Cyclon
