Hi from Royal Wootton Bassett in Wiltshire. Can't remember how I found your site, probably a Google search.

Welcome to the site PSR. Royal Wootton Bassett and that nearby area of Wiltshire seems to like us, its an area I notice quite often in our addresses of parts going out. And since 2011 you had the 'Royal' prefix to denote the towns importance in our military history with Lyneham being there.

Hello There.
I found this forum whilst searching for some direction on the reassembly of my 11 year old Dyson cd11 canister cyclone.  I have disassembled and cleaned it. Now there are two spring loaded pieces of plastic that need to be re-assembled properly in order for me to carry on.  I understand the placement of the dogleg piece with the short spring. It's the long round ended piece with the longer spring that I can not for the life of me get back into place.  I'm assuming that it runs perpendicular to the dogleg and somehow fits inside the button that holds the dust bin onto the cyclone assembly.  I'm hoping someone on this forum may have been down this road before.

I had problems with my DC04 and was investigating on line possible problems, having found the answer then I had to get the spares, to sort the problem only 2 possible contenders and MV seemed the best for delivery, price etc so I ordered and everything arrived within a couple of days, wonderful. All parts fiitted and it is now working except trying to sort out back hose which does not seem to want to come off, still percivere and see what people on forum say.

I found you via a straight forward Google search " how to repair a Dyson" This led me to the Dyson Forum which is exactly what I was looking for.

Hi all,

I found your very helpful site via Google, I was typing last night and used the phrase 'Thermal switch not working for city dyson' as I have one and every time I used it [only praps used it 20 times from new] it would cut out. The search brought me here to an excellent strip down/rebuild page, I have followed some of the advice and spent all day taking my DC26 City Dyson to bits washing it and then reassembling it I now have to wait for my filters to dry before testing it out. fingers toes and everything else crossed that it sorts the problem!

oh and btw I also have two DC07 Animals which I fully intend to have to bits and see if I can sort the problem that I have with one of them, [maybe interchange bits from one to the other?]

Ooof,  well done on stripping a 26 city! Not the easiest first machine to dive into.

Was anything amiss that was causing the thermal cutout to go? Were the filters dirty?

Dc07s are easier,  all the parts fit each other (well,  apart from the clutch part but the cleaner heads swap around easily)

Hi Beko,

The pre motor filter door was stuck [and still is very stiff] on the DC26 [and much to my shame the filter was very dirty] I knew that from trying to use it before that it'd praps work for 3 mins then cut out. I also tried to disassemble the cyclone, but couldn't for the life of me get the damned handle off, so resorted to a different tack, wash the damned thing whole [after all I had nothing to lose, right?] I can't see anything that would cause the door to be stiff, so am a little confused by that!.

I have two DC07's [Animals] one I have a problem with the motor [making a really odd noise when switched on] and the other one the brush bar sometimes works and sometimes doesn't, also the cowling? that you put your foot on [to get the machine from upright] is very very stiff, have no idea about that! [multifloor] so I was thinking that maybe I could take apart that machine first with the dodgy motor/noise and see if I can do anything with that.

:)
Julie :)
