Title: DC41 ball filter cover falls off, something broken?
Post by: hedgy on September 08, 2013, 02:17:45 pm
Hi, hope someone can help with this. I'll try to be as complete in my info as possible.

The filter side cover of the ball fell off and will not stay on when put back. In the instructions for getting to the filter it says turn the centre 'knob' until the side can taken off, then when done turn it the other way until it clicks but my centre 'knob' doesn't engage with anything, you can turn it 'till the cows come home and it will never click.

Inside the cover it looks like this...

and inside the vacuum where the 'spike' goes into looks like this...

It's as if I'm a bit missing or something.

If I put the dc41 in its unlocked position where it would be if you were using it then the side will slot back in, but it falls off again straight away. Nothing is clipping together to hold it on .

Any ideas, I'm at a loss.

Thanks for your time folks.

Terry

After a bit of investigation I've discovered the 'spike' in pic 2 isn't supposed to come out of the dyson body and the bit in the hole on pic 3 is supposed to be one piece not three. That broken bit in the body is actually a huge piece that incorporates several functions and looks expensive. Anyone know where I can buy one?

Can you identify which bit you need from this?

Unless that's all one piece it's the left hand side of number 8 the Yoke service assembly. I've circled the broken bit below.

Number 8 is about £23 inc delivery, but seems to be a special order. Which means it may take about 2 weeks to come into stock from Dyson.

If you want one, we can get one.

For clarification, it is this part:

Just for info, that is now ordered. Hopefully shouldn't take too long.
