One of the parts sellers has a video on swapping a clutch. The bit where he pops off the clutch knob is here:
I hope that helps.  :tiphat:

Dyson don't licence those drawings for publications that are sold Steve. To use them without such permission would be breach of copyright.

Dyson are known to be particularly litigious with those who abuse their intellectual property (they don't always win but they have the cash to try).

Even on sites like this, we have to be quite careful about what we use and how. We can use a certain amount of stuff under fair use rules. Some stuff we must credit them for (their lawyers once told me) and some stuff we simply cant use at all and expect them not to object. We use very few of their images for this reason. Its way easier to err on the side of caution with imagery belonging to those known to be litigious. On a website, you can simply take an image down if the owner objects. You cant do that with a book.  ;)

I know that Angus sought advice from an intellectual property lawyer prior to publication of the book. I know some changes were made as a result of that advice. I suspect that if such drawings could be in there, they would be.

Welcome to the forum BTW.  :tiphat:

Hi everyone,
I'm taking my first DC07 apart as an excersise ( I was given it as 'not picking up') before my wife will let me loose on ours.

I got as far as taking the motor out but was having terrible trouble getting getting the unit out of the skeleton until I then saw a video on the dyson medic website which shows 5 screws to remove rather than the 4 in the book, p65! Is everyone already aware of this error? I've seen no mention of it anywhere else.

Apart from that, the book is fantastic!

Where is the fifth screw you refer to Daz?

You are incorrect that this is an error Biggazdixon, there are only four screws required to release the motor housing from the chassis:

The fifth screw Matt in the video you mention refers to is the one holding in the part numbered 32 on this diagram:

He is incorrect that this needs to be removed to release the motor casing. He may choose to do it that way, and that is likely why he mentions five screws. I find the job perfectly easy to do simply removing the four, as I am sure do most others.

Thanks for the feedback on the topic here. Glad you enjoyed the book.

Thanks for that clarification Angus.
I have to say that before I took the last screw out I couldn't get the motor out at all, that's why I went to your website and hence found the video. Once I'd taken the 5th screw out the motor literally fell out so as long as there's no harm done that's how I think I'll do it in the future too.

Got my copy yesterday, best value book I've bought since Mark Twain's 'Yankee at the Court of King Arthur' and that was free.
Brilliantly clear and easy to follow. I'll be changing the HEPA filter on our DC07 asap..

It still sells really well.

We lent a refurbished blue and silver DC14 to a photography studio a few weeks ago that will feature in the photos in the DC14 manual that is along soon I gather.

I hear the DC24 one will be after that and is already in progress.

There is still debate as to if the DC14 manual cover should feature a girl again, or something else like >>this<<, or maybe a pristine DC14 in the foreground and several in various states of decay behind it.

I reckon a full set, from the dc01 to current would make a lovely bookshelf display!

I'd be your cover bloke, but I have a face even radio doesn't want...
