DCo7 Motor Exchange
« on: September 24, 2013, 02:58:47 pm »
Hi. I have a DC07 but the motor has packed up. I have been given a DC04 with a good motor in it so can I fit the DC04 motor into my DC07?

It depends exactly which motor your DC04 is fitted with, and if a genuine one or not.

What colour combination is your DC04?

I've fitted YDK motors from DC04's into 07's a few times. Always swap the rubbers over so the 07 rubbers stay with the 07 machine and you should be fine.

Hi guys. Thank you for your replies. The DC04 is grey/green and has the original motor. I am going to try this motor with the DC07 rubbers. Thanks for your advice.

The lime green DC04 has an Ametek motor and therefore won't fit your DC07 unfortunately, even with the original rubbers.

Any other DC04 and you would have been ok!

Ah! My motor came from a yellow and silver one, and the one in the absolute+ would have been the same.

Bad luck chap. Search locally for a broken-in-any-way-bar-the-motor jobbie. Should pick something up for a tenner or so!
Good luck

Original DC04 YDK motors run slower than the DC07 ones though, so the DC07 with a DC04 motor will be slightly less powerful. As will a DC04 fitted with a DC07 motor be a bit strong and glue itself to the floor.

Aftermarket ones are interchangeable/the same.
