DC14 Wand Cap Issues
« on: September 03, 2013, 02:58:35 am »
Hello,

     I just received a used Dyson DC14 "All Floors" (US) Serial code beginning with 179 from my mother who purchased it at an auction. IT seems to be functional, but needs a good cleaning, and it is missing the cleaning attachments. One thing I noticed immediately that I would like to fix is that the wand cap doesn't fit correctly. It's almost like the wand goes too far down into the vacuum.  I have attached 4 pictures, one of which shows the end cap nearly flush as it should be. In this picture, I pulled the wand out of the vacuum a bit. Also, with the wand cap pulled all the way back, the wand does not safely clear it when you pull it from the vacuum, causing the cap to be pulled off. I am beginning to wonder if maybe the wand or cap has been replaced with the incorrect one. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That isnt a standard UK wand. I'm not sure if its standard in the US. Maybe one of our US members can offer an opinion?

Ours look like this;

The shapes differ.

Your problem is not the cap instead, it seems to me that the previous owners used the wand without attaching any attachments, which lead the wand to wear down. Your problem is not the cap instead a worn down wand.

If that is the case, the ends are here: DC14 wand collar.

Emurib (or anyone reading), is that a standard US DC14 wand pictured above with the handle off the back like a DC25?
