Pcb AND motor - what are the chances??
« on: October 09, 2013, 05:56:18 pm »
Hi all,

I was wondering what the chances of both the brush bar motor and pcb dying?  :dead-dyson:

I have a dc24 with a dead brush. I swapped the head round for one that works and all is fine, so I took the working motor out of this and put in the non working head, hoping it would work and show me the other motor had gone, but nothing happened.

I switched the non working motor into the working head and again nothing.

So to me this tells me both the motor and pcb have had it.

Am I right or have I missed something?

Cheers  ;)

Did you press the reset buttons a few times?

Yes I tried that. Just seems unusual that they've both had it at the same time.

I haven't got any testing equipment so I'm going to have go through it again I think, just to make sure.

Do you have to hold it for so many seconds or anything? Although I did try everything. Holding it for a long time, just pressing it quickly, pressing it whilst turning it on and off.

I did notice the brush bar/motor connector were different though, I didn't think they would be. One is a 24 the other a 24i.

Thanks for the reply.

It can be the case that the PCB takes out the motor or vice versa. We have had that sometimes.

I am not aware of different motors, only differing drive cogs between early and late ones.

Cheers MVacs. That's what I meant, the drive cogs. Where the brush connects to the motor. I had no idea what you call that bit lol ;D

I've just put it on eBay now anyway, had enough  :sick0012:

Thanks for the replies
