Oh dear, are you sitting comfortably?

This one was like that when I got it.

Step 1 - you need a torch, 2 x long thin flathead screwdrivers and a partner.

Step 2 - Release the hose from the bottom of the machine, pull the wand out as far as it will go and remove the hose. Take the cyclone off and pop the tab back and pull the lower cord hook up.

Step 3 - Pop the grey plastic insert out from the top of the metal pole. I found that one side popped out, then doing the alternative side popped it back in again. Swearing is encouraged at this point... It will come off, and slidedown to the bottom.

Step 4 - Peer up from underneath into the now visible void where the hose sat. You should see the clear plastic ring up there. Basically that has moved, and now jammed.

Step 5 - Try and manipulate the plastic tab back into position. Friend to pull on the wand when you think you nearly have it but really don't. This way didn't work for me, but could do if lucky. Basically, the clear tab pulls up with the bottom of the metal pole and releases the latch. So push in/up with the screwdrivers

Then follow the guide in the post for the stripdown, re-alignment of the plastic tab andre-assembly. However, I found it still did not work as well as the replacement wand I bought, and it did jam again but came apart after a p*ssed off yank. The new wand was £14 second hand, but was a gamble. I'd ask MVacs to sort you out a tidy cheap one with scuffed removable panels (swap them around with yours) and just replace it.

You may get lucky and it will work fine, I think mine had been physically abused as the locking tab for the hose was missing.

I finally received my new dc25 ball motor the other day. I just got done installing it, turned it on on and it seemed to work good. The only problem I have now is the roller does not turn. I took my good roller from another dc25 I have and put it on the one I just fixed--it worked just great. So I am thinking the motor in the cleaner head might also be bad.
Is there something I should look for on the cleaner head that might cause it to not work. I used an ohm meter to check continuity between
the wires and all that I checked seemed to be good.
A new cleaner head--what do you think?

I've never seen a damaged head so can offer limited help, but do all the capacitors look ok on the circuit board? All the solder joints ok? Is it plugging together properly at the joint?

Failing any of those, or damaged wiring then I;m afraid I don't know!

Just looking at a 25 now, the screw that holds the end cap in place is loose, doesn't seem to click into place, like they usually do and comes out easily. Any idea what might be broken or missing?

If the end cap is OK, may be the brushroll housing is worn.

Hi beko1987,

Great photos of the DC25 in bits. Just a quick question, I have acquired a used DC25 from the 'Great God eBay' and in the process of trying to refurbish/service it. It has an issue with the Red Pedal Assembly. Looking from the back of the DC25, it's the left hand side of the pedal.

This side is floating freely and not secure, I'm guessing this should be secured with a screw. It rest against it's stopper but, once you try and use the pedal it gets stuck in the mechanism!!..

Just wondering if I need to purchase a new part ie. a Yoke Locking Arm or whether I can secure in some other way.

Any advice you might have would be much appreciated??..

Hi All,

Just finishing off putting my Dyson DC25 back together and seem to be having issues with the Power Switch cover.

Every time I get it back in place, the buttons don't seem to engage!. In the switch assembly, there's only one way for the tiny white plastic arm to fit next to the spring?.. Looking at your strip down pictures, it seems to be the same!!..

Any ideas at all??..

Hi Jason.

I remember having issues, think I got round them by leaving the screws loose and wiggling the assembly until it all lined up. Was a while ago now though, a few other have 25's in bits who may be able to help with a fresher memory!

I've found the attaching the ball back on is really fiddly, especially the wires. Did you manage to get all the wires back in the tracks ? If so what was the easiest way of doing so?

Yes, all the wires went back in but it took a fair few attempts! Get them as per my picture in the main thread, and hopefully when putting it together it should become clear what goes where.

I did swear a bit during it, remember that part well!!
