Dyson DC01 De Stijl
« on: November 08, 2013, 10:27:18 am »
:icon_nod: It is :) I got it for £10 off eBay, not loacted in Birmingham, it was in Solihull but it was OK and worth it. Luckily it came with the red soleplate and cradle, had no tools but when I collected it it had all its original tools! What a lovely surprise! It was sold as spares or repairs cos it kept cutting out, I thought it was the cable so I got it.

when I got it home, I turned it on, it blew a little bit of dust out the cleaner head, and was SOOOO quiet, then I removed the wand, and still no suction, the filter was washable, it was that dirty I couldn't recognize it. then I checked the cleaner head, it had a brushbar that was good enough to use but was wrapped up with hair and strings etc.
Guess what?

The soleplate had enough dirt and rubbish in it to give a DC14 half a bin full, it was that blocked.

What I did: Removed the cyclone, bin, soleplate, cleaner head, soleplate, and got a new pack of filters, and washed all the parts I listed including the tools and then gave the machine a good wipe down.
After that, I assembled the vac, and it looked just like new!
I started using it, it was a decent vacuum, it was now how it should sound like. Quite quiet for a Dyson, (Ametek motor) and it picked up a good clump of dust  well done DC01
I have a DC07 allergy in purple and green and its well annoying, the body needs replacing along with the wand, cyclone and bin flap
Any tips for removing white marks on the sides of the cleaner heads? I tried using a towel and used enough friction to scrub hard but it wasnt very effective.
Thank you all

T-cut or an automotive rubbing compound like G3.

I'm still after a de Stijl to restore, never any in my area on ebay and it would cost too much in fuel to travel :(

CIF cream removes paint. If you blob some onto the paint and leave for 30 seconds it breaks it down slightly too, thus requiring less rubbin'!

Just got a DC01 De Stijl and a DC03 off ebay for £1.24  The both look pretty good, apart from broken handle on DC03 but we shall see, pictures can lie.

I could use a mint wand if it is mint and you are breaking the DC01? In fact, I could use all the DC01 as a donor for our project if it is going at reasonable money?

;D  The De Stijil is in great condition, so with a good clean and tidy up it will make a great machine.  The DC03 however has a broken wand and a broken cyclone handle,  shame as the rest of it is in very good condition.
