Hi,
The turbo head on my DC-23 is having difficulty spinning, and I am guessing it has something to do with the drive turbine. I have taken the cover off and cleaned the brush and made sure that the suction path is clear, but this did not solve the problem. So I dug deeper, removong the torx screws holding the clear plastic part of the assembly. There are then 3 more torx screws holding the drive mechanism together - 2 are easy to remove, the third is visible but at a right angle to the hole near it, making it very hard to remove. This is where I am stuck - is there a special offset torx driver (like the hex head ball drivers) or is there some other part that comes apart so I can fully clean the drive.

People usually don't bother stripping them down that far as often the internal turbine is broke and internal parts are not available. We consider turboheads to be disposable.

I have put a shout out on FB and Twitter for someone who can explain a strip down in more detail here.

Thank for the response. I have sort of come to that conclusion myself as I was able to open the intake end by pulling really hard and popping it off to get to the third screw. I could not find any reason for the slow/no spin of the roller. The belt was ok as were the gear that I could see, but it was simply dragging so there must be a problem with bearings or some thing at I could not reach.

I will purchase a new head, but is there a newer model that I should look for?

906565-32 is the standard one that you probably have.

Dyson now list a revised one 916094-01:

They charge £55 for that. We could snip a couple of quid off that inc UK delivery in case you wanted one.

Edit: I see you are on the other side of the pond, so try to get a 916094-01 locally if you want the later one.
