Serial numbers and age of Dysons
« on: December 06, 2013, 05:48:41 pm »
Can anyone throw any light on this. Just got a DC25 and it wouldn't suprise me if it's still under warranty.

I am reliably advised there is no accurate way of dating manufacture without access to Dysons internal database.

You can ask Dyson if you give them the serial numbaer, always worked :) apart from once they couldnt date my old DC05!
Early DC04's and the DC01's have a date printed on the serial number, on the right hand side of the serial number sticker, right underneath the sign with the two squares one inside of the other one.
Hope this helps

Well. I rang up Dyson this morning and told them I'd sort of inherited it and wondered if it was still under warranty. Made out I knew absolutely nothing about Dysons and told them the "spinny roundy thing underneath" wasn't turning. The woman on the other end told me the trick how to reset it and hey presto, it worked! It turns out it was never registered and the warranty runs out next August so I registered it and was advised not to have it serviced (£79 inc parts and labour) until it's warranty is about to expire if it's working ok.
Result!
So I'm on the look out for duff DC25 bits!

I might do that with my DC24, it needs a new motor, which I'm not paying proper money for!

I should possibly put the spring that controls the reclining mechanism back on the right wat round first sso it works properly and isn't so blatent tht I've had it apart!
