henry
« on: December 29, 2013, 10:38:47 pm »
I bought a old henry off ebay for £8 spares or repairs
It's going to replace my DIY henry which has been stolen.
I have a house henry but need this one for DIY as they are great for sucking up brick rubble.
At worst It might need a motor, it's only a single speed machine so I'm guessing it could be a switch, rewind contacts, cable/fuse, brush's or the most expensive a burnt out motor.
If the motor is burnt out I will pull some old vacuum's apart and see if I can fit the motor in henry.
I have a couple of spare dc01 motors, a ELU dust exstractor vacuum and a cylinder dyson, so I should be able to make a motor fit.
Cheers

I have a couple of spare dc01 motors,

If you have any nice running, non-sparking YDK (YV) ones, we are very short of those and will buy them.  :icon_nod:

Henry's motor is dead and none of the motor's I have will fit in the space.
I have the early type of henry motor,  if any one has a second hand motor for sale I need one.
Cheers

Is it an 800w, 1000w, or 1100w motor? I have a few spare. Could you also give me the serial number under the handle? I'll be able to date it for you

Thanks for the reply.
The motor is a UDS1053SN 230V and the numbers on henry are HVR200  022407042

That means your Henry is from 2002 and uses an 1100w motor. I think I have a motor somewhere, I'll try and dig it out for you.

Thanks once again.
2002 is alot newer than I thought, it does have a push down on/off switch on the top which I thought would be alot older than the single rocker switch on the side type.
1100 watts sounds right for the motor which seems  not to be made any more and is now replaced with a different type from what Ive read from doing a web search.
If you have a good secondhand motor I would be interested.

I just looked up that motor number out of interest, and it showed me this one.

So if that's it, they are available new in case of need.

Hi,
That's the same replacement motor I came up with.
I did read on another forum that the replacement motor is not as robust as the old type, plus the cost of a new motor would be more than the henry's value.
A second hand motor would be the best way to go.

The single rocker switch on the side are the older models
The horrible push from the top type covered 2001ish to about 2007/8, when the rocker returned but on the top behind the handle.

If you ever tip it over in use, it will roll onto the switch and turn off!

That's a good idea, it switches off if you have a crash and roll over  ;D

Makes you worried that it's  :dead-dyson: the first time it happens though! Do it often enough and the switch does break!

If it's newer than my other henry with the switch on the side it must have had a hard life.
The out side is worn the the motors armature was worn out.
This henry I want to use for DIY jobs so the top having lost it's shine is not a problem.
That will make my total of vacuum cleaners to 3 henry's and 1 dc01.
As I'm in the mind set of collecting vacuum cleaners maybe it might be nice to get another cr01 to go next to the one we all ready have  :chuckle:

Looking at the price of them, you are probably right. They come out at about £35.50 with second class mail. Not a fortune, but do you want to spend it on a Henry?

A used one from someone here would be my first choice too.
