The slider has snapped off with some of it still remaining, I've tried to pull it out but you can't get a good grip on it...is there another way to remove it so I can replace it? Thanks in advance

Long nose pliers and pull it out or dismantle the top of the wand to access it better. If you have a workshop manual, details to split it are page 83/84.

First visit to this very helpful site. Needed to discover the answer to the above question. If lacking confidence, like me, also read the answer on page 5, March 2011, which mentions that a fairly good 'yank' is needed to pull out the cap.

Turned out to be very easy.
