DC25 wand stuck.
« on: January 05, 2014, 09:37:26 pm »
Hi, I was given a DC25 last week. Using it, I have slid the handle down to the end with the winding cleat for the cord.  It will not slide back down into place again. There are a couple of oval 'pins' on either side of the cleat. Do I depress them or something? They dont seem to contact the aluminum wand. Looking down into the handle, I see a clear plastic piece that may be holding the wand in place,
but there is no acess from the outside.
I could place the red end on the ground and tap the handle with a rubber mallet, but I dont want to break it. Yet.

Thanks for any help....

Well, thanks for your overwhelming response and support. ::)
I was able to free the wand by inserting a screwdriver into to handle and prying back the clear plastic device that was locking it in place.
What an awesome design. You have to break out a screwdriver everytime you want use the wand? I wonder why Dyson doesnt tell us about that in their ads? "Ladies and gentlemen, please put a licensed contractor on retainer before using this product. Make sure he has a screwdriver." I have an old Sanitaire that runs rings around this POS. I always admired the Dyson line when shopping at the Home Depot, but I'm glad I didnt pay for this thing. I noticed the suction was weak when I had the wand extended. Very inadequate and disappointing. Ah,well, I'll unload it at a yard sale some day...

You have sarcasm when nobody replies in less than two hours on a Sunday on what is a free resource?

Not a patient man are you?

American much?

Yup. Arizona.  :-X

As this chap is not even our customer, his less than two hour expectations of free help - on a weekend - are rather optimistic.

This is what we call the Paypal mentality and is why many sellers refuse to sell to Americans. Brits take note! Americans have unrealistic expectations, even if they are not your client. We deal with foolish emails every day from Americans who expect international mail works in two days rather than the more usual fourteen. They have no concept of a world outside America. Everything is instant, now, next day, tracking, numbers, accountability.

Did he consider European time zones? Doubtful........

Waiting isn't an option. Even when its free and on a weekend. Well, hello? Welcome to Europe.

He was even "given" the machine, but STILL wants a five star free service......

Yeah, well, you guys dont have troops in 200 countries, you dont spy on everyone's phone calls and you dont spend trillions attacking the world's vacant lots. 'For our freedom.'

I'd rather be sitting in a cafe, drinking with some olive skinned beauty,  but I;m trapped here.
Damn. I'm almost out of money and I'm almost out of time. Looks like I'll never swim underwater with naked euro-beauties, like in the title sequence of "For Your Eyes Only."
Double damn.

Yeah, that Obama bloke has a lot to answer for.   :underchair:

Its no better here, we had Blair and Brown to trash our economy and take us into daft wars too. I feel your pain. I'll take the AZ sun over our constant drizzle anytime.

Thanks!
