What will we see in the future
« on: March 22, 2011, 09:35:52 pm »
Hello. Does anyone know or think they know what the next range of dysons there will be. I always find that dyson has amazing news things everytime. Is there one of them robot vacs in the dyson range yet? If not I bet that will be next because not everyone has the time to use there amazing dyson (oh and it's fun to watch the cat fight with it)

They had one called the dc06 but it wasn't on the market for long.
Personally I find robotic vacuums pretty useless and over priced.
I have had a chance to test the roomba , samsung & Electrolux, once the fun wares off I find they don't pack enough power to clean properly.
They can't clean beind stuff or above the floor and once they had all had a go in my lounge I still managed to pick up a fair amount of dust they had left behind with the old dc14 we had at the time.
Whats the point in it vacuuming if it leaves half the dirt behind
It is fun watching the cats try to catch them though

We have an iRobot Roomba in the shop as a gimmick, and another one at home. I am sick of fixing them actually, only this week the one in the shop needed a new battery which I think had fried because a diode in the charger had fried. The one at home has decided that its' side spinning brush doesn't want to spin any more.  :D

On carpets they are not terribly serious. On laminate floors they are great! The one at home is really cool on the hard floors for dust and fluff collecting; it goes under the TV stand and some of the furniture too. Really, they are just a talking point that is also quite fun.

Yes, Dyson did briefly do a robotic one at about £2500, called the DC06 as VCH said. It looked like this:

It was soon canned and here is the interview with James Dyson talking about it: James Dyson discusses the Dyson DC06

We have an iRobot Roomba too as you know. It sure is a conversation stopper with visitors. Although they always ask me if its a Dyson and how much can we sell them one for.........

Dyson *should* enter the robotics market IMO. The robotic cleaners are very popular in Europe. Are the Dyson marketing people asleep?
