Hi all just a quick hello, managed to find the site via google been asked to mend a couple of the familys dysons and looking forward to breaking them down.

Dysons are great to tear down, wash thoroughly and rebuild! What models do you have to work with? Nice easy 04/07/14s or a less lovely ball model?

Dc07 which had no suction and a none turning brush. Broke it down ran the compresser through it which had it like new, and changed the brush roll belt all now working. And a dc08 which has been washed through just need to repair on/off switch, and fit a new cable as the outer insulation has split. Shouldn't be a problem as I'm an electrician and have been repairing white goods for a while.  By any chance does anyone know how the switch goes back together as it was split, doesn't look like its damaged just not sure which order the bits go back together. I think I may have been ear marked to look at a dc24 with a possible faulty brush motor

Replied to your post in the DC07 forum but if you're still stuck I have one in the garage I can whip apart picture by picture for you if it helps!

Good luck with the DC24, horrible, horrible machines to strip and re-assemble. Brushroll motor may just need the reset button pressing on the side, or the continuity of the wires checked (little panel on one side of the ball comes off with 3 screws and there's that end of the cable, or a new motor or pcb.

Since you sound like your handy with the multimeter, you should have half a chance of a good diagnosis. I got lucky with both of mine in that the brushroll was fine. Got nearly £50 for a refurbished brushroll housing! Nearly as much as their worth as a whole vacuum!
