So we finally got into one (donated to us or we would not have risked it) and true to form the white wire is broken.
But its wasn't as easy as you made out .
We're not convinced it will go back together so we have the greatest respect to any of you who have achieved it

They are a pig to do but with lots of photos they do go back together ok

May someone briefly explain how to get the machine's right side of the ball off? Please ? :)
I have one here with a brush that's not spinning as well, having no idea where that wire is.. I'm guessing it's in the ball, correct?

I'm just jumping into one for the first time today, along with a big ball.. to be posted in the appropriate thread.

Why yes, so that top picture is just underneath the right ball cover and the second picture with the wire, that's around the bottom of the machine when it's been completely disassembled?

Believe it or not the guy who brought the machine on went irate on me shortly after posting this, I explained it was a difficult procedure I hadn't done before and I was going through the proper channels to ensure I did not break his machine.. since I didn't have anything to replace it in the store. After you guys helped me with that DC15 I've already done another since and it was a piece of cake but man, you sure can't please everyone. I was just about to tear into it too, kinda bummed. but I wasn't getting a reading from the plug where the brush head plugs in and all the wires going down had current. "the one that got away.."

Anyway thank you for your prompt reply, auto. I appreciate this forum and all of you here.

In answer to your questions; Yes and Yes.
There is always one job that never seems to go right from beginning to end, mostly the customer is understanding, sometimes you get someone just looking for an argument, the joys of dealing with public.

Thanks auto! @madrat, I believe my ex-customer had a problem with the timeframe on completing this repair.
I felt like saying buddy, you have no clue what you're expecting me to snap my fingers and magically fix... but like I said you can't please everyone.

Yup I made up my mind if anyone wants me to complete that repair its $149.95 USD with zero warranty.

I don't blame you. But like all repairs, the first couple are usually the hardest. I've done two DC15 looms since the one you guys helped me out, last one was a breeze.
