dyson dc30 when charging green light comes on for 30 seconds and goes off

dyson dc30 ,,when i plug charger in the green charging light comes on then goes off after short time...any ideas

With handhelds, and problems of this nature, it is usually battery failure.

How old is the machine?

My DC16 displayed similar symptoms and it was the battery. If you ever get it to charge up enough to run does it run for a few seconds then throw a red light and die?

Get a new (non genuine) battery for it and see!
