Dyson DC14 animal maintenance
« on: March 14, 2014, 05:23:27 pm »
I am going to buy a second hand dc14 animal today from a classified site later on today. The person I'm buying it from has had it for 5 yrs. As soon as I get it home I'm going to give it a thorough cleaning. Is there anything else besides a good cleaning that I should do to it maintenance-wise?

Yes, clean the filter: video here.

Check the brushbar is not clogged up with hair. Other than that, see how it goes. The washable filter is *the* most important thing.

Realistically how much longer can I expect to get out of my dyson assuming I maintain it properly? How long have other people on this forum owned their dysons for?

A DC14 is like a Morris Minor. If it breaks, it can be fixed without breaking the bank.

If you think Dyson put a five year warranty on them, and we service machines people bought in the mid nineties still.

But like anything, abuse it and it wont last a month.

Wash the cyclone thoroughly, new post motor filter, good wash of the pre motor filter, or a new one if its ruined, rebuild and rebelt the clutch, and strip and re-grease the brushroll bearings too.

Should see you good for another 10 years!
