It fell off my mains lead!!
« on: March 18, 2014, 11:04:30 am »
Hi, I have a trusty old yellow DC-04.  Where the mains lead leaves the vac there used to be a small kink - about 30 cm along -  a round grey plastic piece and a yellow rubber band.  The rubber band has started to perish, probably why it has fallen off.

Anyone know what this is for?

That springy thing with a laccy band on is to take up the stress when the machine is pulled at full length to stop the power cord from being damaged.  8)

When the Dyson technician came out to replace the motor in our DC04 in 1999/2000 (it was 7 months old) he removed the one that was fitted and said Dyson was removing them from all machines, he had a toolbox full of them.  Must have been an idea that didn't work.

They break the cord. My Marie Curie DC04 had the donut fitted, and the cable on both sides had snapped over the years.

I refitted it though, the mahine doesnt get much use at all and it's authentic and original innit... 8)

Found this forum after googling these.  I lost mine recently after a friend used my Absolute and I'd like to find a replacement.  Anyone here know where I might find them?

They are not available any more, but I am sure we can find you one in our treasure troves.

You mean one of these.......

Shoot us an email here and we will dig you one out for a very modest sum.

Thanks, will do.  I'd had you down for a call in the morning as a likely source.
