DC25 Cyclone Release Catch Spring question..

I took apart the upper switch housing of my DC25 today to replace the power switch. Upon removing the plastic housing the cyclone release catch button also became dislodged, along with the spring that keeps tension on it. I cant for the life of me figure out how the spring was sitting behind it.  Im speaking of part 11 and 12 as seen on the linked diagram..
