Hello.... first time caller, long time listener......
Been lurking as a guest for a while off an on, using the site as a resource for information and tips/tricks. I am a bit of a collector mainly for my own personal satisfaction.
DC07 All Floors
DC07 Full Kit
DC07 Animal
DC14 All Floors
DC14 Animal
DC17 Asthma and Allergy
DC17 Animal Complete (x2)
DC18 Digital Slim
DC28 Animal (x2)
DC33 Multi Floor
DC41 Animal
DC41 Animal Complete
Some are outright purchased, some a dumpster dives, others are garage sale buys, and some are thrift store purchases. If it wasn't a new purchase by me, then its torn down and rebuilt to like new condition. More than anything else its just a hobby and a way to keep my sanity sometimes. I retreat to the garage and go to work for a few hours with minimal interruptions from the family. I very much appreciate everyone's willingness to share knowledge as its helped me out on many occasions, so Thank You.

Thats a helluva collection there Patrick!
Maybe you can answer some the DC17/DC28 questions we get here? We don't have those models over here so knowledge amongst the Brits is a bit scant.

I am happy to help where I can. I have another DC17 on the workbench right now that needs lots of love. In the 5 min I've looked at it, there is a laundry list of issues. New motor, pre motor and post motor filters, belt and possibly a brush head motor. It was run for a long time with no pre motor filter, the post motor is gross and full of hair. It also looks like it was subjected to a liquid ingestion at some point as well.
I will take some pics of the tear down, let me know if there are any specific things you want pictures of.
I can do the same with a 28 if/when I ever get another.

Welcome! Impressive collection, and being from the US have access to different machines than us.
Do you collect anything else other than Dyson? You have access to all the North Canton Hoovers, they can be VERY nice!

Welcome to the site! Only ever ventured to Florida on your side of the pond but one of my ambitions is to see more of the States.

I actually like my DC41's. I have had the wire loom break on one, but was repaired under warranty. I expect it to happen again, and again, just seems like a piss poor design with no type of reinforcements to the stress point. I also make sure to keep an eye on the middle wheel as well.
My DC28's were my go-to's as we have a large and furry dog (Great Pyrenees) that drops fur in clumps the size of your fist all over the house. I still really like them, but in doing the typical clean with vacuum 'x' and then again with vacuum 'y' I wasn't getting a significant amount more with the 28's. Too be honest, I was very surprised. It didn't feel like there was a lot of weight at the vacuum head of the 41, whereas you can feel the 28 (and even the DC17 to a degree) really ratchet itself down to the floor. The airmuscle tech is legit for sure. The 41's are way lighter and easier to maneuver and without a huge amount of debris being left in the carpet. So for now the 41's are the daily go-to with the 28's coming out for the deep clean every week or two.
