Hello.... I have a question about the DC24 replacement motors!.....I have dismantled my sons machine....the photos were very helpful!..now with the new motor delivered and in my hands I find it is actually slightly different to the original...smaller in fact!!....which means that it doesn't sit in the housing correctly...any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

Was the original motor a Panasonic one and the new one YDK by any chance?

If so, you'll need new motor rubbers and one half of the motor housing to be able to fit it correctly I'm afraid.

I'm afraid not no - if you ping mvacs an email I'm sure they can help though!

You'll need the two motor rubbers and the rear motor bucket. I don't think the front bucket is necessary.

Just checked and the cable is slightly different so get the complete motor bucket to save yourself more grief!

Hi there. New to the forum today. Found this site while searching for help installing a new ball  motor for a friend so thanks for the helpful pics. Done a few Dysons over the years but this is the newest. Got the ball and motor out fine. Got the new motor out the box which is exactly the same but in the bottom of the box is a spring and a seal pad but have no idea where they go. Wasn't one in the ball originally for sure. From a diagram I found its called a 'pan spring'. I fitted the motor anyway but am being bugged by this bloody spring. Has to be in the box for a reason right???? My friend wanted her Dyson back 2mor but I just can't hand it over. Please help  :'(

I seem to recall that is a new cyclone relief spring and sealing pad. We don't bother fitting them as far as I know.

Right, I see. I'll keep that safe just in case, thanks for that. Can hand it over with confidence now. Cheers ;)
