Anyone seen a filter like this?
« on: July 21, 2014, 11:40:28 am »
I was refurbing a DC04 yesterday - took the filter out and saw the stitching and thought oh no, bodge job!

On closer inspection though, the stitching looks pretty uniform and flip the filter over and there's no sign of stitching on the other side, so assume it must be from the factory??

Anyone seen one like this?

That sort are a damn sight easier to get the shite out of as opposed to the usual sort! Good scrub with nothing but water and a toothbrush.

I had this on a DC07 I got on Sunday, the filter housing didnt have the plastic centre that goes through the hole in the sponge filter. Had to look at it for a whie to work out it was a genuine part, and not broken/snapped off!

It came up fine with hot pressurised water and my usual arsenal of cleaning shiz!

Every days a school day! Speaking to Parwaz of this parish he said he had one once and it was an early model due to other bits about it.

We ditch those early DC07 filters usually.

As for the DC04 one with the stitching on, I cant say I ever noticed that. But to be fair, its a while since I washed one. Go on, call me out of touch.  :biglaugh:

I bin those old DC07 filters too (seen plenty of those!) - find they're not as effective and the the seal on the release valve is prone to coming off, making it even more useless.

Ah I always wash them! Have some new ones in the shed but save those for proper minging ones or refurbs for people I like!

You say that though Russ, the release valve caphad a tidy bit of white tape around it, I might swap it for one with the centre piece in if it will cause issues!
