DC24 HELP
« on: July 25, 2014, 01:50:19 am »
Hi, I got a DC24 for £33 today! :)
It was advertised with a non working brushbar, but luckily the brush motor works :)   ;D
The brush does not spin because the cog and the brushbar are not connected well. There is a gap, but the seller had it for 3 years? How can I fix this at home? It's the early type cog btw.
The thing also has another problem, and that is the brush switch is sticky, it's really stubborn.

Is the cog worn or the brushbar? Look also at the end cap, if that is worn, it will allow movement.

I am not sure which one is worn tbh, both look okay
BTE I fixed it now :) I put the brushbar directly on the cog, no problem.
Then, I got 2 pieces of rubber and put them in the end cap to fill the gap up, now there it a filled gap which is rubber and acts like a spring whenever it needs to to prevent putting strain on the brushbar, end cap or cog. It's brilliant now :) just sometimes makes a slight rattle once in a while
