Dyson DC24 dead
« on: July 21, 2014, 11:56:41 pm »
Hi I plan to buy this Dyson DC24 and they said it has no power. Completely dead. I asked if the brush was working, they said yes. They also said it's 6 years old, so a 2008 model and no tool. :(

There is another DC24 ;D which has a loss of suction from the hose, and the brushbar doesn't spin. Shall I get this or the dead one? (Link below to the other DC24)  :king:
Also what can be wrong with the dead DC24?
What's the highest I should pay for each of them? :money:
Regards

If the main motor doesn't run, but the brush motor does, budget for a main motor.

The one with a brush bar not spinning would usually be the brushroll motor. The no suction from the hose will be a blockage or the valve or something small. If the main motor runs on that one OK, that may be the better buy.

Hopefully the dead one will just be a cable or something simple!

If you do get one where the brushroll is working, then spend the time stripping the brushroll down and cleaning the pcb and motor, I guarantee it will be covered in crap and that wont be helping it keep cool! Can of brake cleaner from halfords or similar will do it.

I wouldnt trust even a working one to pay much over £20 for it, unless you planned to keep it (which knowing you you wil) so maybe £30-£35 and put the cost of a brushroll motor and pcb to one side!

The valve that sorts the hose out with suction may not be moving about properly, or as mvacs said just a nice simple blockage!

Cheers  Both of you! :)
Never thought about that valve thing being stuck, good idea- happened on my DC25 too but totally forgot lol
I think I may go for the working one along with their DC05 Absolute+ that they are selling! ;D
Ditch the DC03 lol
