DC24 won't stand up after re-assembly
« on: August 16, 2014, 10:29:15 am »
As the title says, I stripped a dc24 and on putting it all back together I'm having trouble getting it to stand up.  As I stand it up the wheels drop down as they should, and the red foot pedal goes almost back to its correct position but it stops just short of clicking back into the end of the runner and I have to use my foot to make it lock into place. Any ideas?

Are the three springs in this picture set up right?

Yes, they seem to be all in the right place.  It's as though they are just not strong enough, the wheels drop down as I stand it back up, but the red pedal fails to lock in right at the end unless I push the wheels the last 5mm with my foot... Very annoying! Might take it apart again later and just go through the rebuild again making sure I've not missed something but I was hoping someone would have an immediate answer! Don't want much do I?! Lol

Does the red pedal slide about as its supposed to? Mine would fall over if it wasn't fully in place too.

Yes, it is in the runner and all lined up correctly.  I have bent the top spring in the picture (which took some doing!) and it now stands as it should.  Seems it was just a stretched spring... At least I know now if it happens again with another one - hopefully those springs can be bought for next time as they are not easy to bend in the direction you want to!
