A Multi-Coloured DC07 We Are Building
« on: September 20, 2014, 03:58:03 pm »
After reading some stuff on the forum here about previous ones, a chap contacted us to have us build him one of our remanufactured DC07's, but a multi-coloured version that would be totally unique. We had a chat on the phone today about how multi-coloured we could go, and he chose the full on wacky one.

So I thought I'd put a few photos here in case of interest to others.

We delved in the parts bins and started to assemble some different coloured parts while mulling over what would work where.

We decided to use a DC04 De Stijl cleaner head in red, as that would be very unusual on a DC07. And began experimenting with a cyclone.

So the cyclone is the bit we have to put as much colour in as possible I think. Wacky only works if they clash!

So take a Clic cyclone top and swap over both clips.

Add a red bin flap.......

Now we are on the way.  :icon_nod:

Going to have to put a new bin on in order that the colours will show off well.

I'll put some more photos on next week as it takes shape.

Not on the photos, but it has a purple soleplate with three different colour studs in it.

It was quite a fun build. If you happen to want something similar, you can contact us. A DC04 or a DC07 works best for this, but a DC14 could be done as well.

I think we are going to do another this week and put it on the shop floor to gauge interest.  ;D

I wanted to combine a bit of rarity as well, pink and yellow is wacky, Clic pink stuff is rare, the red cleaner head is unheard of on a DC07, and even that lavender brush tool is a very rare item. I wanted to try "stuff you just wouldn't do" to see how it turned out.

I thought the different colour wheels and the DC14 clutch knob in amber a nice touch too. I think in the context of the whole machine the pink top is OK.

I am surprised Dyson never made anything similar as a special edition to be honest. The last similar DC04 we made flew out of the shop like it was on fire.

I agree it looks great just pink and yellow not for me.  I'm surprised Dyson never did anything like it as well.

Cheers.

Those amber clutch knobs are only on some DC14's.

I hadn't realised that the DC04 cleaner head also fitted the DC07. So with that in mind, how about building the one that Dyson forgot-a DC07 De Stijl?
With that one you're already half way there...

That could be done, but it would have to have a silver chassis. Good idea.

Received this yesterday; opened it at work expecting bemusement & general indifference but everyone was as impressed as me, one girl said she wanted one for Xmas! I've pointed them at the website so you might get a few more orders. The ultimate accolade is probably from my kids who both said it looks "cool"; daughter said it is a Frankenstein machine, which she meant as a complement being made up from "dead" bits. Really appreciate it, it just seems a shame to get dust & dirt in that shiny clean bin!   :-*

Thanks for the feedback, Frankenvac. I hope you enjoy it.  ;D

We are amassing bits for a "De Stijl" one now. That is red, purple and yellow only. For the lover of neoplasticism.........

You could spray a silver chassis purple just for this one. Yes, I know the Dyson police will shriek 'unoriginal!' but since the DC07 De Stijl never existed in the first place, would it really matter?

Didn't some early clutchless DC07's have purple spines? The ones with the purple and yellow cyclones.
