DC04 De Stijl Brushroll Housings (Clutched Models) Available?
« on: August 25, 2014, 05:36:51 pm »
I've seen a DC04 De Stijl with (I think) damaged brushroll housing/soleplate/cleaner head-still trying to establish exactly which parts need replacement. It's a clutched model.
Which parts are difficult to find for this? I've seen the cleaner heads in red, but brushroll housings don't seem to be listed at all for the clutched DC04?

You are right, DC04 brushroll housings seem to have been left off the new site.  :underchair:

There isn't much to go wrong with them to be honest.

Just use this page to shoot us an email when you know all what you want, be sure to include a number in case of queries, and we'll send you a checkout link.

I took the plunge and picked up the  DC04 De Stijl today: at £8 I thought it was worth a punt, as fairly local.
What's there is not too bad, apart from a broken cleaner head, power switch, and clutch, but a lot is missing, which the seller had failed to point out.  Please can anyone confirm the correct colours for the following before I start ordering parts please?
Soleplate (all the one's I've seen are red, but mine was purple with yellow fitments, and I think it's a later replacement)?
Bin insert (missing): yellow?
Inspection valve cover (missing): red?
On/off button: (yellow)?
Brushroll (missing): yellow and purple?

It's not as nice as I'd hoped, but I want to try and do this one, as I haven't restored a DC04 yet. A couple of other general questions:
How do you get the soleplate wheels out on these without breaking the soleplate (mine are rusty)?
How do you remove the power switch from the switch housing (not the switch cover, I've done that with the switch tool). But the red switch won't detach, even with some force.

I'll do an email to M Vacs to cost out some of the missing bits that are De Stijl-speciific.

Yes. Let's just say the description was a tad optimistic...
But, as I said, there's some spares there if it comes to the worst.

You cant go wrong for £8. I'd buy any De Stijl DC04 at £8 unseen. Impossible to lose money at £8.
