DC18 Allergy Cyclone gasket seal.
« on: November 22, 2014, 01:53:57 pm »
Hi there.

I've just taken my dc18 cyclone assembly apart to replace the foam gasket seal the same as a dc24/25 and yet there isn't one. There is a rubber membrane very similar attached to the white top that sits on the cyclone assemberly.

Is this a modification instead of the foam seal that disintegrated the rubber one would last ?

Any help much appreciated.

Matt

No that's original to the DC18 - much better than those foam gaskets!

The foam seals have only just become available, and they are the only ones that are right now. I doubt anyone will do the rubber ones as the foam ones do the job.

As it goes, the foam ones are currently too expensive (after-market manufacturer milking it while they can), but lower priced ones will be along soon.  :-X

The DC25 is the same as the DC18 BTW, the DC24 is smaller. Three different types are currently available.

Thank you for the replies. But I'm now really confused.

My dc18 has a rubber seal attached within the cyclone unit, do I need to add the foam gasket in?

Or just wash the rubber one and put it back leaving out the foam replacement I have bought??

Thanks in advanced.

Matt

One replaces the other. So it depends what condition the rubber one is in.
