DC41: No Power to the Cleaner Head.
« on: December 07, 2014, 05:53:38 pm »
We have found something else that causes problems on the DC41. Similar to the DC40 where a small loom breaks, we have found some DC41's that also have a similar problem. We have seen a trend of this in recent weeks, so it is worth a mention here.

When the machine is stripped down, you are looking here:

And here that is a bit closer:

As we can see, the wire rubs on the machine and eventually breaks on some machines causing power loss to the cleaner head.

The part is fiddly to change, but it is available.

It may be the case that Dyson discovered this already as the part number has already changed, suggesting a revision of some kind. More sheathing probably. The original part number was 921076-01 described as a "Motor Loom Assembly" and the new one is 963705-01 described as a "Motor Loom Service Kit".

We have just ordered a bunch of the motor loom service kits in, so they will be on the site within a day or two.

These have now arrived and they look like this.

They can now be found on our shop here: DC41 Motor Loom Service Assembly.

The only "modification" I can see is a little bit of sticky foam in the packet. As they break in more than one place, that is useless as a fix.

Just as an addition to this, we got a DC41 in today that had exactly this problem (good job the looms had just arrived).

I think this is something we are going to see a lot of.

This one broke in a nearby, but different place, where the wires pass through the hole in the chassis - hard to spot!

If you have encountered this, say something on the topic here, and lets see how big a problem this loom breaking is.

I believe I have this problem; the brush roll motor cuts out at a certain angle. How do I get to the wire? Is there somewhere you can point me to that already has that information? Thanks!

The 'certain angle' bit is the telltale sign of a DC25 doing the same thing

I am not sure anyone has actually done the tutorial for this yet.

:( :( :( Sad. Do you happen to know if the DC41 is like the DC50?

The DC40, DC41 and DC50 are all very similar in terms of how they come apart.

Hi I have a Dc41 which I have fitted a new brush head and still did not work. I fitted a new reset switch which went bang when switched on. The original switch looked as if it may have went the same way.
Any idea of what is wrong...we live in dundee so cant pop by
Thanks

I haven't done many dc41, but if it has the small pcb fitted in the ball assy then it sounds like there could be a short circuit on that over the primary supply to it.

The original brush head may not have been at fault and was actually the pcb at fault.
The only way to fail is not to try.

You have established its intact with a meter? Or visually?
