Hi guys, merry Christmas to you all near and far. As Some of you might know I sold my dc01 (Edwin) earlier this year. I did this as I didn't really have a lot of space and the collection was getting out of control. Anyway space isn't an issue now so I set out to replace Edwin. Picked this dc01 up last night for a tenner off eBay. It didn't turn on so I rewired it and fired up, also it is the ydk motor which I actually prefer. It has the cyclone sticker still which is undamaged so I will leave that on as I removed it off my previous one because it was torn. The only thing is the plastic is slightly more discoloured than the other dc01 silver yellow I had. But it has the better motor in my opinion and the plastic is less scratched.

Very tidy looking.
I am not sure I agree with the YDK being a better motor though.

Nice! I think the Ametek motor is quieter, but the YDK one is more powerful :) it spins at a faster RPM I believe. I prefer YDK, but still like Ametek for quietness

DC14s are tanks, just need a slightly longer motor life. Do plastic parts often break on DC14s? Nope. DC41- Sexy looking futuristic and powerful machine. Just needs a better designed cleaner head wheel and cyclone clip along with a dense metal rod in the chassis.

When the amtek runs it does have a more quality sound. The ydk's do screw but the suction does seem to be a hell of a lot better than the amtek and it seems slightly more aggressive on the carpet. Maybe from it turning faster parwaz.

Good looking machine, Amtek dose sound better. Not really noticed any difference in performance, got me wondering now.

that is one sweet DC01. It looks near new condition. Looking at your DC07 Clic I must get a new bin for mine it makes such a difference. I spotted an Auto glym kit with some bottles out what do you recommend for pollishing??
Thanks for sharing.

Hello mate, that clic bin was battered I actually cleaned it up with autoglym superesin Polish. I have been doing some tests and I have discovered that metal Polish is absolutly brilliant for removing them really ground in skirting board marks. And it doesn't damage the plastic either. My dc04 de Stijl had a cracked cleaner when I got it, I will show you the repair I did on it below.

What kind of metal polish did you use?
