DC01 scratching my floor

Hi, my DC01 is scratching my newly-laid karndean floor! I have checked the underside but I can't find anything that might be causing it. The scratches are very fine and go into the vinyl itself, not just 'scuffing'. Has anyone else had this problem and if so, what part to replace?! Thanks

Brush bar? Might be time for a dyson with a clutch.

Thanks. If it was the brush bar, would it leave a continuous mark?

I'm not 100% as I've not seen your floor, but I would imagine if there is nothing rough or sharp on the bottom it would be the likely cause. Dyson do recommend turning off the brushes on hard flooring (not much help if yours has a fixed brush bar) , and I have heard of laminate floors being scratched by them but to be honest even then you risk scratching them as its a hard surface on a hard surface. I would sugest either using a brush or a dusting mop, or get a cylinder dyson and floor tool with brushes that can be lowered.

Why not buy the hard floor brush for a dc01/02 that fits on the end of the wand. That way it saves changing the whole vacuum cleaner??

It could be the sole plate pushing any grit it finds against itself and into the flooring sadly. The DC01 was never great for hard floors. Either a cheap 32mm (or original proper Dyson floor tool for the early machines, a few on ebay) or it's time to upgrade to a DC04 or cylinder!
Shame, nice to hear of a DC01 in daily use!

That would work, probably fine one on ebay as beko said.

A pattern copy of the original floor tool. The benefit of this over others is it'll be light, and less likely to snap the wand in use. Genuine ones are out there though, I got one for my DC01 DeStijl for £6 posted last year, which I think was a steal!

Thanks to all. I love my Dysons (01 and 03) and they get used on an almost daily basis! As suggested, I have decided to buy a DYSON ARTICULATING HARD FLOOR TOOL.
