Help with dismantling DC04
« on: January 11, 2015, 10:59:04 am »
I need to replace the motor in my ancient DC04 but I've hit a problem taking it to bits. I need to remove the height adjuster cover but it won't budge! The Youtube video I've been following shows it just being prised off using a screwdriver as a lever, but it just isn't shifting. Help!

You mean the clutch cover I presume? On the lh side as you look at the machine

It is a fiddly thing, and indeed snaps off with a flathead screwdriver. Prise out from the bottom and the top, and it should snap out eventually.

Be careful though, if its gone brittle it may snap. Used ones aren't too expensive though.

Thankyou. Just a bit more brute force and swearing needed, then! I'll have another go.

Yes, I finally got the flippin' thing off. Dyson now all in pieces on the dining table, waiting for the new motor to arrive.
