DYSON DC27 motor replacement
« on: February 03, 2015, 01:44:41 pm »
Hi, I am new to the forum, and I am looking for advice on how to go about changing the motor on my Dyson DC27 which is just over 5 years old. On powering up the motor makes humming noise for a second or two and goes silent. I am assuming the thermal cut out is operating. The brush arm is freely rotating so I am guessing the motor is burnt out , or requiring new carbon brushes. I would appreciate any advice on how to access and replace the motor. Thank You, Jackieg, Motherwell, Scotland

In our stickies is a DC27 motor change guide: Dyson DC27 Motor change guide

Dont bother with carbon brushes, just change the motor. The symptom you describe sounds like a motor, yes.

It is a fiddly job on a DC27 though.
