What is this DC40 Part
« on: February 08, 2015, 10:48:54 pm »
Hi,

I just repaired a DC40 whose brush head was staying high and not lowering to the carpet when reclined.  I took it apart and put it together again and it seems to be cured.  I think it must have been something to do with the gear / cog bit.

In the process of taking it apart i ntoiced this part had snapped.  What does this actually do.  Everything seems to work without it

I am 99% sure that that's the plastic bit that holds the machine when using the hose. Without that, try using the hose and see if the machine falls on its side when you pull the hose sideways. That clip is what the machine relies on to hold itself to the cleaner head.

Thank you, your right, that's exactly what it does.
