I've never thought of doing it that way, normally I pull the rod out with some force and the bit falls out the bottom, then goes in the bin...

Are these critical? Sure I've only seen them on a few dc07's, are they early or late in the range?

I think we got our DC07 just after they came out so probably early ones.  Looking at the fins on it it's got to do something to the airflow.  Does the air flow out of the cyclone at the bottom or is it coming up there?

beko only on earlier ones I have seen the bit ,no idea what its for I just take it out and throw away ,I assume the dyson guys have said the same lol

Thanks for taking the time to post this guide, must have taken you a long time, but saved me a few headaches swapping out a DC07 chassis this week. The cylcone retention clip broke on one of ours and that meant the whole chassis needed replacing. Flea-bay to the rescue once again, but seriously thanks for the post!

Me too, thanks for your kind comments, glad it helped! Chassis swaps are a pain because it's not particularly tricky, but EVERYTHING has to come off!
