Dyson DC40 black clip or lever

Ok this curved black upright lock or lever came out of my a Dyson when I was changing the motor and I dont know where it goes. The stabiliser is now dodgy and I think its cos this isnt in the machine

This is a DC41, but it may be this part on a DC40 as it looks similar?

Thank you so much. It goes where the stabiliser "thin" stick is that activates the changeover valve, just near there. I really appreciate your help:)
