Pre-filter keeps blocking
« on: March 20, 2015, 11:34:15 pm »
Hi, does anyone know why the filter blocks up after about 4-5 uses, it seems to be sucking to to much dust and fluff threw the cyclone onto the sponge filter. Ive swaped the cyclone unit with another 1 and it doesnt block up so its definately something to do with the old cyclone, power washed clean to no avail.

Check the rubber ring at the bottom of the cyclone.  It will probably be split or perished letting the dust through onto the filter.

Is the cyclone leaking at any of its joints. Look for a hissing from the middle of the cyclone when running.

The noise that comes from a DC07 would you be able to hear a hiss ?

Run a small bead of silicone around the middle joint if it's leaking air. Did the top handle seal refit correctly when you took it off to wash the cyclone?

Its challenging I know, but we had one recently leaking there on test after refurb. It just didn't sound right and performance was down. It took a few minutes of testing, but we found the hiss in the end. After a new cyclone it was golden.

I always give the top seal a good spray of silicone polish to make sure it sits properly, if there dry they are almost impossible to get back together.

I think were veering off topic, the suction is great no leaks. The question was why does hoover pick up ok but drag dust and fluff through to the pre-filter? In my eyes can only be the fdc seal at bottom of cyclone (which is fine) or the cyclone itself.
