One of the big issues with this was the rusty wheel axle

Which did ruin things somewhat. Luckily, Q know who still has these in

Luckily, the ratings plate sticker peeled off and stuck back onto the new part perfectly

I got a DC04/07 wheel axle from the shed, and measured it against the DC03 one. there was 4/5mm in it, but once the wheels and glamour caps were on, you cant tell!

It also meant I could get rid of these scratches on the old LMC. Into the recycling bin it went!

I got some glass polish, and some gloves so I didnt put fingerprints all over it and buffed it up

Shiney

The glass polish was messy though, and there was sod all left so I got some G3 Paintwork renovator (filler heavy silicone polish) and thoroughly polished every bloody part, inside and out, it took an age but looked soooo good afterwards!

I may run the rotary over the cleanerhead this week, to increase the gloss and remove the fine swirl marks, but this morning, on my last day of paternity leave before going back to work tomorrow, I put it together

Forgot to include the LMC in the picture, not taking it all again though...

Cyclone first

release valve seal back in the housing

release valve back together

fitted back into the upper cyclone housing

Cyclone seal back in

Lower cone sealed up

Cyclone done

I realised this part came out whilst polishing it (which made it a damn sight easier to polish), so cyclone cup back in

cyclone seal back in

Bottom seal in

The spinal cord needs to go in first

Post filter holder in

The ends of the motor back on

Wired up

Mated up to the suction channel and fitted into the chassis

I glued the broken tab back on

and inserted into the chassis

Lower motor cover fitted

Cleaner head now, and the rear seal is inserted

Locking thing fitted

Removeable baseplate clamp fitted

Clear window seal fitted

Another treat from Mr. Cole, a brand new clear window!

Front bumper fitted

Cleanerhead fitted to the chassis

Clutch popped back in, with the broken tab glued into the housing so it stands half a chance of doing something

Clutch cover fitted

Time for the rear wheels

Baseplate seals in

The brushroll polished up nicely

Gingerly refitted

Second shiny new part to go on

Lovely!

The filter housing removal assembly goes back together now

Inner adjuster inserted into the top part

and fitted to the tool holder/top hat

Handle clipped in

Fitted and screwed in

The motor suction channel seal fits onto the end of the motor suction channel

Pre motor filter housing fitted

Changeover valve goes back together

I forgot a small seal, so took the top of the filter housing off to fit it

Back to the hose

Inspection window sealed up

Tools fitted

Switch and switch housing fitted

Looking like a DC03 again

Old wand refitted for now, and some after shots

Looking good! Tonight, I waxed it with some Banana Armor I found in the loft

Will get that buffed off tomorrow!

Its such a beautiful colour! Am seriously contemplating putting a shelf up somewhere and having it on display but it would be a pain to dust!

Just need a clear DC02 now,  got more chance of finding a solid sub £500 citroen xm 2.1td manual hatch though sadly...

Has anyone ever had a dc02 clear? Or are they a mythical beast?

We had a really battered one ages ago that was only fit to break.

They have a slightly different motor to a standard DC02. Same as the one in the Recyclone.

They do exist, you posted this photo a couple of years back elsewhere.  ;D

Oh and I remember that someone on Dyson's Facebook page mentioned that they found a brand new DC02 recyclone in their loft or something and they wanted to know the value of it. This was years ago

Id love to have a find like that! Knowing the value is possibly quite tricky though,  I mean they cost x when new,  and to some people would just be a hoover,  to others they could be worth megacoin to a limited market! Sometimes thats where ebay cam be handy,  and things find their own value

That's only because people had started to realise that boxed old cleaners stored in a damp, leaky cowshed aint always the bargain they look from the outside of a closed box!
