I bought a job lot of stuff today, which should arrive tomorrow, and in there is a brand new grey and green DC05. I gather the box is tatty and dusty, but am assured its brand new!
Anyone any idea of current values for such a thing? I recall a bloke had some on eBay a while back. Anyone remember what they brought?

Over £100 I reckon.
Discontinued but Discounted listed lots of vintage machines last year, and people who bought them found out that damp storage isn't great, as they stank!
There's been a few on eBay recently for £140 and I think one sold...

It actually cost me over £100. Plus VAT. I was happier at £70-£80 but it was a take it or leave it gag. I only had it - dear as it was - as I never saw another in recent years. I reckon I would need £179 for it to cover delivery and a smidgen of profit.
Claire's theory was we have some DC38's at £199 new, and a DC05 is better and twenty quid cheaper.
It may end up in the attic with the mint DC01 and DC04's we have for later display. I'll post a pic when I get it.

Was gonna say keep it, but TBH it owes you £100, I'd try and sell it, then find a mint/nib one cheaper so you don't write off a massive cost...

Actually, we don't see so many DC05's any more. They used to come in with old machines six at a time, we always broke them to make Panasonic/Motorhead conversion kits, but the last 6-12 months or so, we don't see many. And any we do see need bananas, extension poles and heads making them not viable to refurb.
Without trawling eBay and getting lucky, I doubt too many mint ones are out there now. And certainly not new ones. We haven't sold refurb'd DC05's for about three years. Especially as now parts for them are obsolete at Dyson. Nobody has new cable rewinds any more - I bet I could get £50 for one now
(we get about four calls a week for those)
. Poles are £30ish at cost now. Think of a genuine motor too @ almost £50, and conversion kit parts, and it would break for more than I paid.
We never had a new one for sure. For someone who loved his old DC05 and wants a new one again, £180 is alright for a new one. Way cheaper than a new current Dyson. And it wont fall to bits like a DC39. What is it worth if we put in the attic for five years?
I am not bothered if I keep it at that price really. I'll flog it if I can make a shilling, but I am more than happy to hoard it. It isn't going down in value is it?
Its like money in the bank. Like the DC01/2/3 motors and fixed DA001 soleplates we have, or the DC03/4 wands, cables and genuine hoses. Prices went up the moment they went obsolete as people piled in as an investment. Yes they may cost more money now, but we actually have them and most don't.
Who else has a brand spanking new DC05 in the box? Almost nobody I reckon. I recall two or three on eBay the last five years or so.

Jesus, that bin is almost sexy! Seems odd to see one not irreparably scuffed or hazed!

Steady
Always liked the 05. The motorhead was the best, great cleaning power.
