It is a bit confusing. After replacing the motor, brushroll, soleplate and brushroll housing...

I presume your machine is a clutchless DC04, ie just one belt rather than 2 going into a clutch. Around the motor spindle, is there a metal ring that sits over the inner motor rubber, then sandwiches between that and the brushroll housing?

Can't say that would throw the belt off centre though, I feel your pain on this one!

The only other think to try as Parwaz said would be a new/second hand cleaner head, incase yours is warped and making the whole brushroll sit off centre. If you sat there and moved the whole cleaner head from side to side slowly whilst the machines on does it straighten out and make it all run lovely for a brief moment?

Did you refit the 2 black pivot rings before putting the cleaner head back on after the motor change?

It is the clutchless model.

Think we're getting somewhere, there is a bit of play on one side of the cleaner head, just a tiny bit. But if I move it to the side the belt wobbles, if I move it back to the middle or the other way it stops wobbleing.

The belt is only rubbibg on one side of the soleplate aswell, which I suppose fits in with only one side of the head being loose.

I swapped the black pivot rings over to opposite sides and the play swaps sides, so I think that one of the pivot rings is worn, even though they look the same size to the eye, it must only be slightly.

Maybe the cleaner head is warped/worn aswell, will get one if new pivot rings doesn't fix it.

Yep it is a bit painful, getting expensive now but hopefully it'll work out cheaper in the long run vs getting a refurb. Going to have a whole new machine at this rate ;)

That's a shout,  those rings can wear.  For the cost of a new set to rule it out it could be worth it,  especially if it swaps sides when you fiddle with it

If you happen to need a cleaner head, we still have two or three [now otherwise unavailable] new early grey ones.  8)

I must admit, reading the topic and watching the vid, its a hard one to call without having the machine in front of you.

I've never has the problem however I had a similar problem with my  dc04 absolute. The clutch wasn't activated right and it was very noisy it would stay in P position all the time. When I turned on the brush roll would spin Wetherby upright or reclined the problem.  Was the Dyson was refurbished and had no clutch cover or screws it only had 1 because the other screw threads were bost So the only 1 screw fell out and the clutch piped out so I had to re-screw it as good as new now (just no clutch cover is this a problem)

I hate cheaply refurbished Dysons, people seem to do whatever they like as long as it looks clean and picks up dirt!  :'( I had one which was serviced, the little thin plastic bit on the clutch cover with the belt was snapped off and I had a few with the motor wires in the diffuser   : :-\ ::)
