DC03 Independent Silver and White Restoration.
« on: May 01, 2015, 01:11:20 am »
We have a very straight DC03 silver/white I was planning on doing up to hang onto, but the top cyclone handle is broken.

After some delving and checking a few suppliers, nobody has got one.

Does anyone here have one tucked away in silver?

I'm in the same boat as you. I have a really nice and little used one too with a broken off cyclone handle. Came in a job lot of 100 that I got. They only owe me £3.87 each so am not too worried. I wanted to keep this one as it looks so good though, so will wait and see what comes along. I don't mind waiting.

Hey, nice to see you posting Sid.  :icon_nod:

Madrat, I'll see if I have a cheap grey one, I am sure we have a few of those.

I also got a nice DC03 Absolute+ in that lot too but that was missing the cyclone and bin but I have about half a dozen or so more 03's lurking at the back of the shed that could be used as donors.

Found a silver cyclone top.  ;D

Our DC03i is nearly done. I will try and get some photos up this week.

Just found some of these - shoot Claire an email if you still need one.

So we have had this machine for a while. It was quite tidy overall - a good project. But had a blown motor, a broken cyclone and the usual broken soleplate.

We have new motors. But it took a while to come by a silver cyclone top, and tracking down a new silver soleplate took a while too. But while I was waiting, I came by a brand new set of genuine tools with the DC03 extensions on the collar.  :king:

The usual strip down and clean up followed. Followed by a rebuild with the new parts. Plenty of the usual cutting and buffing, but the end result looks almost new.

This is another that is bagged up and tucked away to go with the DC01 we did, the DC02 we did, the DC04 De Stijl we did, and the brand new DC05 we recently came by.

These will all end up on display at some point in the future when we move to bigger premises.

Next week we have a Kleeneze Rotork Cyclon coming (the predecessor to the DC01). That will be a challenge as it has had a very hard life.

Looking fab.  Did not all DC03s have the second handle over the tools?  Will get in touch with Claire when I get back off holiday next month, saving pennies for pasties and cream tea's  :))
