Is the ball filter assembly the same as the DC24 and does it experience the same problems ie the small cog bearing wears and may cause a jam. I have noticeable play in the ball and the filter jams against the ball assembly.

DC25's do not have the cog as with the DC24. I suspect

They are still about. Even we got worked some a few weeks back, until we spotted it and sent them back.
