They are decent machines, very good when they work.  I would check that the stabiliser works properly cos some of them have problems. Sometimes the ball in the filter can pop out and it needs replacing. This is cos theres so much carbon and the exhust air s so powerful, it just pps out. Even a good wash cant really cure it, so Dyson sent me a free one out under warranty. Filters are cheap tho and its a common problem. Otherwise a fantastic machine

Metal rods on foot pedal pop out sometimes, bin is small so easy to overfill, pipe is not long enough. awkward to use in a small room.  Had ours for about 5 years and have changed it for a DC14.  Much better IMO.

They choke themselves to death very easily. Nothing a fullbstrip, wash and rebuild doesn't cure!

Tried this yesterday. Absoutely brilliant for my house. 2011 model. Nothing wrong. Was sold as lost suction and recently had a new hose. Came with all tools. However the suction relief valve hisses when the hose was used. This was fixed when i a accidentally sucked up a tesco bag. Still on all original brush motor and loom. Also won a set of genuine clean and tidy kit with stubborn brush matress tool flexi crevice and soft dust brush all for £21. Love this and cant stop using it. Thanks for all your help. Despite it not being needed. However it does make a noise from post filter on turn off. Not bothered though as it is a new filter and slowly reducing.

Nice!  They all make that sound,  make sure the motor housing is clean where the seal mates to it,  and clean the seal itself.  May help!

Congratulations on an easy fix!

Yes they all sound like a 747 when you turn them off.  :boggleeye:

Lol. BTW Coincidence! We bought a brand new Dyson DC25 Animal from Currys, funnily enough it also had that black promotion sticker on the front of the bin and it was made in April 2011 even though we bought it in November 2011 :D That was pretty good then :D Mine has 1 year guarantee left, yours should too if you have the receipt

You don't need a receipt. Just call 'ask Dyson' and give them the serial number of the machine. Get what you can out of them before the 5 years is up.

Not with a smear of silicone grease on the seal.

Cleaned the house top to bottom today and fillled it 3 times :sick0012: The soft dusting brush has had a lot of use already and i only got the set on thursday. However i found that the flexi crevice tool hisses terribly and causes the hose to pull back and making it impossible to use. Anyone else found this?
