DC01 Destjyl replacing under bin flap - how to?
« on: January 28, 2015, 03:55:08 pm »
HI,

Got a dc01 Destjyl, the bin flap underneath the canister needs replacing as the clip the bin catches on has broken. I have picked up a DC01 Hepa flap identical in all but colour.. but how do I fit it! Is it a case of slipping it in or should I take the cleaner to bits and slot it in! I managed to pop the old one out but am unsure if I can get the new one in without some difficulty!

Any help greatly appreciated!

thanks

Ashley

They are a bugger to get in and out, a bit of gentle bruit force is needed.

I separate the upper motor housing and spine slip it in and a screw them back together.

But gentle force can get it in and out.

Is that a simple process? I've had the bottom off for the belts! where do I start to get the upper  housing loose.. acessible?

Cheers

You just kind of manipulate it in while carefully compressing the lugs.

Hi Ashley.

It's easy once you get going. Basically envolves removing the cleaner head with the brusbar, levering carefully around the pivots. Take out the stabilising bar that sits across the bottom. The 6 screws underneath remove the lower motor housing. Then take the motor out and then you should see the screws inside that hold the upper motor housing to the spine. Reverse order to complete the job.

I wonder if it has been covered with pictures on another thread.

I wonder if it has been covered with pictures on another thread.    ha thanks! maybe ! too late now! she's in!

I came at it with the cover as low / close to where it should be with it angle so one side was as close to being in the correct postition then hoodwinked the part that was out with a screwdriver, before I knew it things were all in place!

now I have to figuire out why she's not picking up properly again... Hepa filter seems to be getting warm.. don't think that  was long in there before the cover broke! side filter swapped that over and that's getting plenty of suction on it.. no way I can pull it out when on! hmmm...

all good fun!

Cheers

flaps you say? there are two... ooh!

I have a Border collie very nice but very hairy.. seems some historic piece of card had gone up.. slowly built up a mesh of dog hair! I almost though it was another filter!

Slipped the brush cover off and accessed both sides cleared it through, belt still has a twang... back together now! and running great :D

thanks.. now I have to catch up on the cleaning

Nice :)
DC01 for pet hair? Err its an okay choice but I would use something like a DC07 or DC14+ models! they have a little over 3X the suction if the DC01 :)
DC01 is cool though, I grew up with one
