DC25 will not stand up, something is broken
« on: May 29, 2015, 08:29:28 am »
Good morning,

last time i visit this nice forum i found help to repair my DC25, hope this time will be nearly successfully.  :icon_nod:

The problem is, that a little pin is broken, so that the DC25 will not stand up.

So, my two questions are:
  • Is it possible to get a spare part and whre to get it?
  • Does exist a "How to" strip and rebuild the DC25?
Attached are 3 pictures of the broken part.

Thank you very much for your help!

At least, excuse my english, please.
I`m from germany and ist my school englisch from about 25 years ago.  :))

Best Regards
szonic

Believe it or not that means a whole new body/frame is needed for your DC25 I'm afraid  :angryman:

Big job to swap literally everything across to the new frame - only things that won't need taking apart is the cyclone/bin and cleanerhead.

Gluing the little lug back into place is really only a temporary/bodge repair and is likely to come off again quite quickly.

Hehehe, of course I`ll believe you... but where to by this complete new or used frame in germany?

To glue it is not an option for me.

It will maybe an option to sell the DC25 and by a new one.... but at first i would try to get another frame.

Thank you very much for your estimation.

If you can get in to fit a clamp or cable clip you could try gorilla glue, it's extremely strong and might work, you just need to keep presure on it for 24 hours while it sets.

I can quote you for one including delivery to Germany. We can use card, Paypal, Sofort, Euro an die Bank, whatever suits you. I'll send you a PM with info. At least you have an option then.

I have a repeat problem with this. Replaced valve lock assembly 916201-01 and the cleaner was returned 6 weeks later. Is this the part you advised szonic to replace. Is the damage misuse or just bad luck?

Its a new chassis you need.  Mvacs will get you one,  then follow my stripdown guide to fit it.  everything needs to be removed off the old,  and replaced on the new.  Not a tricky job in my eyes,  but i appreciate its a faff if you have never done it before

Hi, sorry for my late answer.

It is as@beko1987 descriped.
With a new chasis, your DC25 will be as good as new. :-)
I changed some seals by the way, because you have to strip down everything.
It is a lt of work, but with the instruction from @beko1987, not the biggest problem.
