Firstly, many thanks for helping me to select and buy from you a replacement electric motor for my Grey Lime DC04.......its fitted and working.

However, after doing that fitting I'm doing something basically wrong here and would really appreciate your help.

I attach a photo which I think is self explanatory.

Help!!  :'(

Actually its meant to be like that, lol. It might look like half the suction is going to the hose, but the valve pipe actually lets the suction go fully into the cleaner head. Try it and there should be no suction a the hose with the machine reclined. My DC14 does it too.

Its not too self explanatory...

Do you have a black latch sat under the bit with the writing? That needs to be moved in order for the valve to slide up and down.  Is the grey bit properly in place,  with the black carriage fitted properly and the circular bit sat centre on its pivot with the big grey circlip and rubber seal fitted?

Your motor bucket isn't lined up correctly in the  top and bottom case sections in the base of the machine.

Hey Sleaford, that seems to be a real probability given the work I've done on changing the motor....big thanks

How can I make sure that it's correctly aligned please? Also, should I put the vac in its full upright lock position before closing after realignment?

A photo or diagram would be a real help if you could, please.
