Our DC20 (361-UK-A 34007) stopped working this weekend. It has been working over 14 years, still great suscion.
When it stopped working there was a very strong burning smell.
Replaced both filters, still not working. The motor hepa was black - assumed the motor or carbon brushes burned out. Attempted to look for the motor, realised it needed different screwdriver, went to B&Q to buy a torx screwdriver... finally mananged to open up the housing and find a motor number.
Followed a very usefull video:
It is for DC19 but it looked very simialr to my DC20 so i followed the steps and managed to suceed in "openinig"
The old motor has a specific number
YDK YV-16K 24C 7L08 24V
I can find similar original Dyson motors on internet including
YDK YV-16K 24C but
the last line of the specification "7L08 24V" is not matching ...
Is it very important to match?
On ebay non original options quoting complience with YDK YV-16K 24C no mention of the last line of the spec.
some of the products say it is premium, some with TOC, some with Thermal break, some with Cut-Out...
well i am really stuck what to buy...
As you can see by this post I am persistant and like small projects like this repair but I am faced with the fact that my knowledge is limited...
Could you please advise.
Thank you Gloria
