DC01 Refurbish and Build
« on: June 21, 2015, 12:56:38 am »
Well i decided follow beko1987 and Madrat's suggestion. to give it a strip down and a good wash. i forgot to take pictures then i remembered half way though. it stank like old dogs and filthy. i thought it would be too late to take apart a hoover at 10:30pm. Im so impatient screw it take it apart and put it back together tomorrow  ;D. i finished about midnight and i finished washing and drying it all. tomorrow i will post pictures me putting it all back together.

Finished! what a pain in the back it was to put back together. its suction is really good how ever its gone louder  :underchair: for some reason. i think the reason its loud because it can breath better. it needs filters and a new drive belt and tools but unfortunately. it turned out better than i thought

That DC04 has the wrong cleaner head on it, although it doesn't look out of place......

The DC01 cleaned up well.

That DC01 looks like new! If you want more suction, remove the 3 release valves on the cyclone (they pop out carefully from the outside), then, with a sharp stanley and some insulation tape, tape over the holes, cutting around the raised up mouldings, ensure it's tight down.

Improves things no end, just dont block it up obviously! Keep the release valves too, their quite tricky to get hold of...

Its great isnt it! Amazing how much suction is lost,  even with the seals cleaned to a spotless condition! Ive got loads spare now,  cos I keep removing them!

Isn't it bad for the motor though when you sit it upright.  It's pretty much choking it? And putting strain on the motor

Yea,  it doesnt do it much good in the long term with prolonged blockage

But if you know it wont bleed the air,  either start it reclined or eith the wand out,  then dont mess about from getting the wand back in to reclining it.

My 01s dont see much use,  its worth it for thrm to work better than they should for the brief time i use them!
